Visions of Kentucky: New paintings by Jubal Faircloth

The Frank Duveneck Arts and Cultural Center hosts Visions of Kentucky,” an exhibit of oil paintings by Kentucky artist, Jubal Faircloth. The opening reception takes place on Friday, July 3rd from 6:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. as part of the Covington First Friday Gallery Hop.

Jubal is excited to present a new series of
paintings entitled "Visions of Kentucky" collecting over 20 paintings he produced during the months of April, May, and June of 2009. Jubal grew up in Kentucky and has always found it a beautiful, picturesque state, begging to be captured on canvas.

Each painting was performed in the traditional Plein Air style, meaning it was started and finished completely on location. Photo references were not used, nor were any paintings re-worked in the studio. Jubal has done this in an attempt to capture the purity of spirit, mood, and tone of each scene, while also finding enjoyment in the act of creating art within specific environments.

Jubal plans to eventually expand this project into a much bigger series that will focus on all fifty states. After that, he will finish again in the Bluegrass State, because, as they say, there really is no place like home --especially in Old Kentucky!

Artist Biography:
Jubal graduated in 2005 and earned a BFA (with an emphasis in painting) from Northern Kentucky University. He has exhibited locally and nationally in solo and group shows. While his most recent work is landscapes and cityscapes, Jubal also specializes in abstract art. Jubal lives in Dry Ridge, Kentucky with his Cat, Tex. He enjoys music, art, and literature.
